As we celebrate raising £20 million, we’re spotlighting 20 stories of extraordinary community action from our Co-op Wholesale partners.

Today’s story is all about Dike & Son – a remarkable 175-year-old family business whose commitment to supporting local communities is as strong today as it was in 1851 when Harold Dike started delivering groceries around the village of Stalbridge with the help of his horse, Ginger Jack!

Through Making a Difference Locally, Dike & Son have donated an incredible £135,000 to local good causes, supporting everything from schools and sports clubs to food banks, community groups, health initiatives and environmental projects.

Their impact can be seen across North Dorset and beyond. Over the years, they've supported organisations including North Dorset Beekeepers Association, Sherborne Food Bank, Stalbridge Scouts, Stalbridge Youth FC, Abbey 104 Community Radio, Blackmore Vale Lions Club, Templecombe Together, Dorset Cricket Board, North Dorset Rugby Club, and many more.

But Dike & Son don't stop at funding raised through sales of Co-op own-brand products. They embrace every opportunity to maximise support for their community. Their in-store collection tins provide customers with another way to give back, while their clothing banks have raised an additional £4,700 and promote sustainability at the same time.

After 175 years in business, Dike & Son continue to prove that being a successful retailer is about more than serving customers - it's about supporting the people, groups and communities around you every step of the way.
