Are you making a difference in your local community? If you're running a project that supports local people, particularly young people, now is the perfect time to apply for this Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round.

This Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round has up to £200,000 available, with up to 100 projects receiving donations of up to £2,000 each to support valuable community initiatives.

How to Apply

All applications for this Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round must be submitted through a Co-op Wholesale supplied store, such as a Nisa Local or  participating independent retailer.

Once you've identified a local store, speak to the retailer about your project and the possibility of supporting an application.

Donations Available

  • Up to £200,000 is available through the Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round.
  • Up to 100 projects will be supported.
  • Successful applications can receive a donation of up to £2,000.
  • Applications close on 18 September 2026.

We encourage groups to engage with their local retailer as early as possible, as each store can only support one application.

Important Information

Before applying to this Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round, please note:

  • All participating retailers are independently owned businesses.
  • Each store can submit one project application only.
  • Some stores may already have a project or application in place.
  • Applications from youth-focused projects are particularly encouraged for this round.

Banking Requirements

To receive a donation through the Heart of the Community Awards Funding Round, organisations must have a dedicated bank account in the name of the group, organisation, or cause.

Unfortunately, we are unable to make payments to:

  • Personal bank accounts
  • JustGiving accounts
  • Crowdfunding platforms
  • Any account not held in the name of the organisation or cause

Please ensure the appropriate bank account is in place before applying.

What Happens Next?

Applications for the Heart of the Community Awards funding round will be reviewed following the closing date of 18 September 2026.

Successful projects will be notified in October, with donation payments taking 6 to 8 weeks.
